RED LETTER DAY FOR CHESTER BLUE COAT CE PRIMARY

The county’s newest primary school, Chester Blue Coat CE Primary, was officially launched last Tuesday (November 1 2011) in the presence of six former, current and future head teachers.

A service at St Thomas and St Oswald’s church on Parkgate Road, attended by the Lord Mayor of Chester, Eleanor Johnson and the city’s former MP Christine Russell, marked the Incorporation Day of the former Victoria Infant and St Thomas of Canterbury CE Junior schools.

All 350 pupils of the newly amalgamated school attended the service, with contributions from each year group, including an excellent musical presentation by Year 6 children.

Staff were joined by current and former governors for a service led by Rev Ian Arch and retired Bishop of Stockport, Geoff Turner. A full turn out of head teachers was made up of founding Victoria Infant head Margaret Long, former head of St Thomas Junior Ian Newton, recently retired joint head of Victoria Infant and St Thomas Junior Trish McGuirk, current head teachers of Chester Blue Coat Primary Moira McCallum and Amanda Ellis-Rushton and head teacher delegate Vince O’Brien, who is due to take up his post in January.
