MUMS were in for a treat on Friday, March 16 when the Friends of Chester Blue Coat CE Primary School held an old-fashioned tea party and Craft Fayre to celebrate Mothers Day.

Parents Hannah Mabbutt and Jenny Fowlie organised the event, with assistance from a team of helpers, in the junior hall at the end of the school day.

Coffee, tea and cold drinks were accompanied by delicious cakes and biscuits while the children were kept entertained with a play area for younger ones and a choice of craft events for older pupils.

Dance hall music added to the atmosphere and a suggestions board invited ideas for future events.

Hannah said: “The afternoon was a great success. Parents were queuing outside the door to come in for a coffee before the children came out, then returned later with their children for them to enjoy the fun too.”

The event raised almost £240 for funds to support the provision of facilities and activities for pupils.

One parent said: “It was brilliant. Everyone had a nice time and the refreshments were delicious. My daughter and her friend made really nice keyrings and I got a sit down with friends.”

Money raised by the Friends group recently paid for the Year 4 children to enjoy a coach trip to Liverpool’s Maritime Museum at no cost to parents. The next event planned will be an Easter Egg hunt at the school on Walpole Street.

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who helped organise the event, made cakes, ran stalls and who attended. Your support for the event made a real difference!
